You might not have given it much thought yet but when you want to retire is as much a part of your goal as how much money you will want during your retirement.

For example, if you retire when you are 55 and live until you are 85 you will have 30 years of retirement to pay for. If instead you keep working until you are 65 that's ten years' worth of extra pension that you could build up. Retiring later will give you more chance of building up a higher pension and means you can spread the cost of building up your pension over a longer period.
