Mark
Now my head's spinning!
John
Youth of today – c'mon, it's Friday, you're nearly there!
Mark
I can't get my head around all these choices – it's hard enough choosing which coffee you want. Speaking of which…
John
So, have you been back to the roadshow again?
Mark
Yeah – options left, right and centre. I need some caffeine to get my brain in order!
Louise
Well that was exciting!
Mark
Exciting?! How do you make that stuff exciting?!
Louise
Well, I just think the idea that you can actually influence the amount of pension you could end up with… I'd just not thought about that before, that's all.
John
You tend to take it for granted, don't you? I mean, you forget – well, I did – that you can have as much pension as you want, really. I mean all you have to do is to prioritise that over all the other stuff that comes along.
Mark
Speaking of prioritising - Latte, Cappuccino or Espresso? With or without a muffin? Chocolate or blueberry?
John
No ta.
Louise
Not for me, thanks.
Mark
Not choosing anything’s always an option.
Louise
So have you found out what your options are then, John?
John
Yeah but there are not as many because I'm that much further down the line, you know.
Mark
Are you still going on about how exciting it all is? What is there to get excited about anyway?
Louise
Well, for one thing, there's all the different choices that the Company can offer us. Not to mention the choices that can be offered by everybody else…
Mark
…the private pensions you mean?
John
Yeah, and then there's your choices as well, especially in your case, with so much time on your side.
Mark
OK, OK so I get all the stuff about time being on my side. But isn't it a bit risky?
John
That's a bit rich from you isn't it? I thought you were going to take your chances in life and see what comes along. And, this is important, is it not just as risky to do nothing at all?
Mark
I'd never thought about it that way – I suppose you're right.
Louise
I suppose it's one of those "it may be risky to go out and cross the road but better than staying in and risking starvation by never leaving the house" sort of things.
Mark/John
What?
Mark
I suppose what you're saying is, don't assume that just because something's risky it's bad.
Louise
Yeah, think of it like getting married, or buying a house even. It might be risky, but if you make the right choice, it'll be worth it.
